Prepaid cards a fantastic idea for many different types of people who, for whatever reason, don't want a credit card. This made banks consider the need for pre-paid credit cards, where you can transfer an amount of money onto your prepaid credit card to keep it safe.

Prepaid credit cards have many advantages over simply keeping money in your bank account and using your debit card, including when you go abroad.

When you go abroad there are many options for taking money with you including cash, traveller's cheques and now: the pre-paid credit card. The advantage of having a prepaid credit card instead of traveller's cheques or cash is that it's much safer to carry a prepaid credit card and also the international cash withdrawal rates are much lower than using your banks' debit card.

Also when you use your prepaid debit card in restaurants abroad you won't be charged anywhere near as much as you bank may charge you for using your debit card.
